ABU DHABI, U.A.E. – May 3, 2008 – The UAE is among 10 nations taking part in an international campaign to raise women’s awareness about breast cancer – one of the country’s biggest killers. The Global Initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness, initially launched earlier this year in Abu Dhabi but expanding to other emirates, will explore areas of research, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Susan G. Komen for the Cure Will Support Research on Breast Cancer
Course for the Cure™ Workshops in Brazil
PORTO ALEGRE – April 10, 2008 – Women of the neighborhoods of the south zone of Porto Alegre were chosen by the trainers of the Course for the Cure™, organized in Porto Alegre by the Institute of Mama of the RS (IMAMA) and promoted by Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a recognized American NGO engaged in fighting breast cancer for over 25 years. The community chose to support the Breast Nucleus POA, a program that tracks breast cancer incidence in the country, a partnership between Hospital Moinhos de Vento and the city’s Department of Health with support of the IMAMA. Don’t Underestimate Saudi Women
JEDDAH – March 28, 2008 – The Middle East's leading English language daily newspaper
recently showcased the work of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
in Saudi Arabia. The training, a comprehensive workshop on
breast cancer awareness, is part of the US-Middle East Partnership
for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research, a joint endeavor
of the U.S. State Department and Susan G. Komen for the Cure
launched in 2007.
Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi, advisor to the
Saudi Cancer Society and a breast cancer survivor, is helping
to empower Saudi women to take charge of their own health.
“Don't underestimate Saudi women,” Dr. Al-Amoudi says. A
delegate at Komen for the Cure’s landmark Global Advocate
Summit on Breast Cancer in Budapest last fall, Dr. Al-Amoudi
is working tirelessly to raise awareness among the next generation
at risk — young girls. By working with the Ministry of Education,
she hopes the Kingdom will adopt a suitable breast health

Fight Against Breast Cancer

CLUJ, Romania — March 10, 2008 — On March 5 and 6, 2008 in Cluj, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Global Initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness kicked off its first training, targeted to create sustainable programs for education about breast cancer. The workshop was organized by SECS Bucharest and the trainers were Dr. Violeta Horhoianu and Carmen Boscaneanu.
