Network

Advocates

NetworkThe Global Initiative strives to establish a diverse, global network of advocates. Through a rich offering of workshops, we connect and train non-governmental organization (NGO) staff, community leaders, health educators, medical professionals, students, academics, religious leaders, breast cancer survivors, as well as business and government officials. In many countries, the resulting network was the first of its kind. In others, the Global Initiative has leveraged and connected organizations and networks that already existed. By May 2011, more than 1,000 advocates have graduated from the Course for the Cure™ and thousands more have been reached through community grant projects on breast cancer awareness. After several years investing in the foundation of the network, the Global Initiative organized national networking conferences in various countries in which advocates convened to share best practices and discuss goals for the future expansion of the program.

Local Partners

The expertise and leadership of local partners contributes significantly to the strength and sustainability of the Global Initiative network. In each country, key leaders from ministries of health, foremost NGOs and public institutions, top hospitals and media outlets comprise a Steering Committee that provides support and guidance to Global Initiative activities and strategic planning.
