The first year of the Global Initiative in Egypt concluded with the annual network meeting on October 22, 2010. This meeting was not only a celebration of the Global Initiative network and their achievements to date, but also brought together many key stakeholders during breast cancer awareness month set in motion many of the strategies for breast cancer developed over the past year.
- The meeting brought together over 80 individuals from all three program cities, including the Global Initiative program team, CFTC graduates, lead partner organizations, USAID in Egypt, IIE, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
- The agenda featured networking, a CFTC graduation ceremony, recognition of key supporters, presentation of the Global Initiative’s achievements so far, and discussion and planning for the future of the program.
- The network meeting was followed by the Susan G. Komen® Race for the Cure around the Great Pyramids of Giza, in which Global Initiative participants walked representing the Initiative.
