Awareness Campaigns
Public awareness has been a primary objective for the Jordan Breast Cancer Program since its inception in 2007. The Program’s approach has been both one of mass communication during breast cancer awareness months of October and March, as well as outreach through interactive and individualized workshops and lectures. Local Partners
Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP) is a nation-wide initiative for the development and provision of comprehensive services for the early detection and screening of breast cancer for all women in Jordan. http://www.jbcp.jo JBCP was established by the Minister of Health and is governed by many key stakeholders within the health community in Jordan. This program is specifically under the leadership of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation which is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization, run by a board of trustees comprised of a dedicated group of prominent volunteers whose mission is focused on cancer care. The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) is the only specialized cancer center in the Middle East treating both adult and pediatric patients.

An executive board led by the King Hussein Cancer Center oversees the operations of JBCP, provides direction and ensures the implementation of its action plans. HRH Princess Dina Mired, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation is the Honorary Chairperson of the National Breast Cancer Committee and the Executive Board. JBCP is governed by a National Steering Committee comprising major health stakeholders including the Ministry of Health, King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, World Health Organization, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, Royal Medical Services, King Abdullah Hospital, USAID’s Private Sector Project for Women’s Health, Jordan University, Hashemite University and the Syndicate of Private Hospitals.
