- More than 2,000 women screened through mammography.
- 130 health professionals trained in Clinical Breast Exams (CBE).
- More than 6,000 men and women reached through breast self-awareness (BSA) outreach.

Workplace Awareness
In honor of Komen’s partnership with American Airlines, since 2009 the Global Initiative team in Mexico has conducted more than 22 Breast Self-Awareness presentations in the workplace to American Airlines employees and contractors at locations throughout Mexico.

Building Networks
The project “Working towards Breast Health for Mexican Women,” developed a formal network of breast health organizations in Mexico City within the National Cancer Network, officially called the Breast Cancer Group (SECAMA), and is providing outreach and information to vulnerable populations.

Reaching Indigenous Communities
With approximately 10.8 million indigenous people in Mexico, many of whom speak a language other than Spanish, it is important to include these communities in health initiatives in a culturally sensitive and relevant way. A community project did just that by working with several rural Triqui communities in the mountainous region of Oaxaca.

Training Medical Professionals
The project “Training Doctors and Other Health Providers,” which took place in Cuquio, Jalisco, directly addressed the need to train primary care doctors, nurses and social workers who attend to rural populations on breast cancer early detection, clinical breast exams and raising awareness.
