Workplace Awareness

Return to Mexico page

In honor of Komen’s partnership with American Airlines, since 2009 the Global Initiative team in Mexico has conducted more than 22 Breast Self-Awareness presentations in the workplace to American Airlines employees and contractors at locations throughout Mexico.

  • The Global Initiative Program Manager and Master Trainer in Mexico have conducted Breast Self-Awareness workshops to American Airlines employees and contractors at the company’s offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancun and Los Cabos, Baja California.
  • Global Initiative Steering Committee members, such as Dr. Jose Luis Guzman, Director of the Breast Health Center of Cima Santa Engracia Hospital in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, have participated in the presentations.
  • The project has also expanded to Costa Rica, where the in-country Global Initiative team has conducted sessions in San Jose and Alajuela.
  • Approximately 300 American Airlines employees, family members and contractors have been reached.
  • These presentations further impacted and increased the scope of breast cancer awareness outreach to include a population that may have otherwise not been exposed to such information.
  • As Global Initiative Master Trainer Livia Olvera Snyder expresses, “It has been a very enriching experience because as a trainer I now had the opportunity to be with people who do not have the information but have a need for it.”
