Panama Highlights
Working with Indigenous Communities
A 2010 Global Initiative community grant, the “Love Your Body” project provided breast cancer education to the Kuna indigenous community. Through this grant the Komen breast self-awareness video was dubbed into the Kuna language and 50 women of the community received their first mammogram. Learn More »
Working with Health Professionals
The leader of this project, a nurse in a local health center, received a 2010 Community Grant to provide breast health workshops to medical professionals in the province of Cocle. Learn More »
Outreach and Training for Underserved Areas
Funded by a 2010 Global Initiative Community Grant, a medical doctor in Veraguas province developed a project to train health professionals from 15 of the province’s rural health centers. Learn More »
Hadassah Panama Breast Cancer Walk
In Panama City, the Hadassah Panama organization, in collaboration with lead partner FundAyuda and Program Manager Amalia Nicolau, organized its first race to coincide with the Komen Race for the Cure® in Israel on October 28th. Learn More »
