Training for Health Professionals

Funded by a 2010 Global Initiative Community Grant, a medical doctor in Veraguas province created a project to train health professionals from 15 of the province’s rural health centers.

• The project established a systematic training program for health staff who provide integral breast health care in 15 rural health centers.
• Uninsured women 50+ years old and those with suspicious symptoms or high risk factors received breast cancer screening.
• The Director of Health for the Veraguas’ Region promised to donate 100 mammograms to the three Komen 2010 Community Grant projects in the province of Veraguas.
