Engaging Youth

Return to Ukraine page

Engaging YouthLack of awareness of breast cancer is a key gap in most Global Initiative countries. Engaging youth in awareness campaigns and flash mobs can be a powerful tool to reach multiple generations with important information. Using this model, youth learn healthy breast health behaviors early on and they also learn how to talk to the older generations about breast health, the risks of breast cancer, and where to get screened.

Charitable Foundation “Harmony”, Lviv

  • Worked with youth and medical schools to address both a lack of breast cancer awareness and medical provider quality issues.
  • Organized an “Information Week of Breast Cancer Awareness” that included flash-mob actions, education of 450 medical students, and outreach to family members who were recruited by the medical students.
  • The administration of the medical college has turned this week of breast cancer awareness into an annual event.
